The Best Chocolate Chip Cookie I Ever Had

The Original Recipe
The best chocolate chip cookie recipe I ever had was made extra special by using oats. I think the combination of brown and white sugar also contributed to the deliciousness.
Whatever it is I LOVE these cookies. I admit I haven't baked these in a very long time. In fact this recipe has been sitting in my old dilapidated notepad for about 25 years. I wasn't even sure if I still had it. I was thrilled when I found it still there.
This chocolate chip cookie recipe also requires you to use an ice cream scooper to place them on the baking tray. So as you can imagine they were large. The country restaurant where I worked was into large portions of everything. Giant muffins, huge slices of homemade bread and for a few years it was my job to prepare all of that yummy stuff.
Well the place burned to the ground a few years ago, so I think it's ok for me to share.
Here goes...
Beat together
1 cup of margarine (I prefer butter) 1 1/4 cups brown sugar 1/2 cup white sugar
Add
2 eggs 2 Tablespoons of milk 2 teaspoons of vanilla
Blend together and then add to the wet ingredients
1 3/4 cups of flour 1 teaspoon of baking soda 1/2 teaspoon of salt
Now stir in
2 1/2 cups oats (Not the quick cooking kind) 2 cups chocolate chips (use a high quality semi sweet chocolate) I like Ghirardelli 1 cup nuts
Scoop the batter onto a baking sheet using an ice cream scoop for large ones or make them smaller if you want to.
I don't have baking temps or times. We used a commercial convection and we just checked them periodically. I am sure you can get baking temps and time information by browsing this delicious web site.
Enjoy and if you do try this out I would love some feedback.
Thanks!
