Chocolate Chip Bars
The only thing better than a chocolate chip cookie are chocolate chip bars.
Also known as congo bars, they are thought of as the brownie of chocolate chip cookies.
A congo bar is ideal if you are in a rush and want to satisfy that chocolate chip cookie
craving without all the time and hassle of dropping each cookie onto a cookie sheet.
This congo bar cookie recipe is fast and deilcious and will have you eating warm
gooey bars in no time. Congo bars are great for company, playdates, and potlucks.
They are sure to please and impress.
Congo Bars
- INGREDIENTS:
- 1/2 C Unsalted Butter
- 1 1/2 C packed brown sugar
- 1 Tsp Vanilla
- 2 Eggs, beaten
- 2 C all purpose flour
- 1 Tsp baking Powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 Cup Chocolate Chips
- 1/2 Cup Nuts
- ½ C Nuts (optional)

DIRECTIONS:
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Melt butter and cream with brown sugar and vanilla.
- Add beaten eggs to butter/sugar mixture and beat well.

- Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradualy add flour mixture to creamed mixture and blend until just mixed.
- Add chocolate chips and nuts
- Spread batter into the bottom of a greased 9x13 baking pan. Make sure it is evenly spread and the same thickness.
- Bake 28-30 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Let the cookies sit in the pan for 20 min before cutting or completely cooled for perfect bars.
