Press Releases

If your bake sale is for a worthy cause and holds some news worthy value, then invite the local press; newspapers love a good human interest piece. However, the fact that you are raising money for your own organization would not necessarily warrant a press release. How about raising money for a local family whos house recently burned to the ground? World catastrophe? Sick children? Cancer Foundation? Fundraisers held to plump up your annual budget may not exactly get the journalists running to your event. Also, the more you have going on at your bake sale the more interesting the press release will seem. Will there be a bake off? Pie eating contest? Prizes? The more your bake sale sounds like an actual event, the more you have to put in your press release on and your bake sale flyer.
