Bake Sale Ideas

These bake sale ideas are sure to have your treats flying off the table. Holding a bake sale can be daunting and fraught with anxiety, but relax and have fun. Some of these simple bake sale tips are most often over looked but make all the difference in the world.

Make sure you have visited the Bake Sale Poster page. Without a catchy informative poster, who will come?

The location of the bake sale is crucial. Some more popular bake sale ideas are:

  • Foyer of the gym during a basketball game (outside any sporting event for that matter.)
  • In the park on parade day
  • Grocery store parking lots
  • Back to school night
  • Craft Shows
  • School lunch rooms
  • Yard Sales

Keep in mind that you can't just set up shop without talking to the right people. Always make sure you have permission. When you contact them state who you are, what organization you are with and what you are trying to accomplish. Don't forget to mention the date and times you are interested in.

Even though you have picked the best location, you may need some more help in drawing attention to your table. Click here for some creative ideas!

Decide on who will bake these goods and what should be baked. Being specific with bake sale participants is a great idea. Who wants to sell a whole table of rice crispy treats? A little delegation and planning in this area will make for a more successful and diverse selection of goods. Try some planning tools from www.verybestbaking.com's bake sale page. You will have to become a registered member, but it will be worth it.

Try a themed bake sale. I just mentioned that diversity is good, and it is but what if you also streamlined into one theme. All things chocolate chip (my personal fave). All cupcakes/mini cakes? All things grains and nuts? You can get as creative as you like.

People eat with their eyes first! There is nothing sadder than a bare folding table scantily displaying goodies on paper plates in plastic bags. To add to this drab scene a listless piece of copy paper is haphazardly taped to the table with a scratchy hand written announcement. Eck! I have walked by many a table. Which is too bad, because maybe, just maybe the most tantalizing treat lay waste inside one of those plastic bags. Sound familiar? Avoid this by:

  • Using bright and eye catching table cloth and artistic signs.
  • Wrap goodies in cellophane bags with curling ribbon at the top.
  • Arrange muffins in baskets and cupcakes on cupcake tiers. (Many of these things can be brought by or borrowed from participants.)
  • Have cookies arranged on cookie sheets with individual parchment paper squares nearby so they can grab and buy just one cookie.
  • Or, put them in a giant see through cookie jar.
  • Tie balloon bouquets on the corners of the table.
  • Place silk flowers around the plates of goodies or other type of garland.
  • Layer the goodies at different levels using cookie and cupcake tiers, or simply placing blocks under the table cloth.
Try these bake sale ideas and then come back and share your experience with others!
